How does Unseen choose its partners?

Through a rigorous process evaluating growth potential, child protection policies, program effectiveness, and organizational integrity.

How does Unseen ensure their partners are legitimate?

Unseen vets partners thoroughly and continuously, beginning with a lengthy application process that qualifies the potential, efficacy, and sanctity of their work.

Do Unseen partners stay partners forever?

No. Our goal is sustainability. Once partners reach stability, they move into an alumni phase where support is available as needed.

Understanding Human Trafficking

What is human trafficking?

Defined by the UN, trafficking involves:

  • The Act: Recruitment or movement

  • The Means: Force, fraud, or coercion

  • The Purpose: Exploitation

Is it always international?

No. Trafficking can happen across borders or entirely within one country.

What if someone travels willingly?

Even with consent, if deception, coercion, or exploitation is involved, it's still trafficking.

How widespread is human trafficking?

Nearly 50 million people are trafficked worldwide, according to the International Labour Organization (ILO).

Does it happen in the U.S.?

Yes. Human trafficking exists in every U.S. state. The U.S. is also a major consumer in global trafficking.

Why are nonprofits necessary in this fight?

Victims often fear law enforcement. Nonprofits serve as trusted bridges, providing care, awareness, and prevention.
