Like so many young women striving for a better future, Bopha* longed to provide for her family. When she met someone on Facebook offering her a well-paying job in China, she saw an opportunity to change her life and the future for her loved ones.

But instead of a job, Bopha was deceived and sold into a forced marriage.
Trapped, abused, and far from home, she endured years of suffering before she finally escaped to the Chinese authorities. They repatriated her to Cambodia—where Hagar supporters made the next chapter of her story possible.

Thanks to the generosity of people like you, Bopha was welcomed into Hagar’s care. She received trauma counselling, medical treatment, and one-on-one support from a dedicated social worker. She was not alone. Step by step, she began to heal.

Today, Bopha is thriving.
With the help of Hagar’s entrepreneurship training, she has started her own small business and is rebuilding her life with dignity. But her courage doesn’t stop there—she now bravely shares her story at Hagar’s prevention events, helping to educate and protect other young women from falling into the same trap.

“My hope is that by sharing my story, others can be educated and empowered to prevent this heinous crime from happening to more innocent individuals,” she says.

As one of Unseen’s trusted partners, Hagar provided Bopha with safety, trauma-informed care, and a path toward long-term restoration. Her journey is a powerful reminder of the healing that becomes possible when survivors are met with consistent love and support.
